Introduction :
Role of the Author in Literature
In my opinion, an author plays an important role in literature because an author is the person who creates stories, poems, novels, essays, and other literary works. Through writing, an author expresses thoughts, feelings, experiences, and ideas.

◇ Important Roles of an Author

> Creates Awareness:
Literature can make readers aware of social issues such as poverty, inequality, education, and discrimination.

> Entertains Readers:
Authors create interesting stories and poems that provide enjoyment and relaxation to readers.

A good author makes readers think, feel, learn, and understand the world from different perspectives. Therefore, authors have a significant role in shaping both literature and society.

● Poetry as an Interpretation of Life

Poetry is called an interpretation of life because a poet does not simply describe life. The poet observes life, experiences it and presents it through personal feelings, imagination and ideas.

For example, rain is an ordinary natural event. A poet may interpret rain as a symbol of hope, sadness, freshness or new life. Thus, poetry gives deeper meaning to ordinary experiences.

Poetry also helps us understand love, suffering, happiness, nature, relationships, social problems and human struggles. It makes us think about the meaning and purpose of life.

● Conclusion :
In conclusion, poetry is a combination of thought, emotion, imagination and artistic language. It reflects and interprets human life. Therefore, poetry does not merely tell us about life; it helps us understand and feel life more deeply.

■ What is your understanding of " the classification of poetry "? Explain this topic in detail with example.

● Instruction :
The classification of poetry means dividing poetry into different types according to its subject, purpose, form, style, length and way of expression. Poetry has many forms because poets express different kinds of emotions, ideas and experiences. The major classifications of poetry are lyric, narrative, dramatic and descriptive poetry.

1. Lyric Poetry
Lyric poetry expresses the personal feelings, thoughts and emotions of the poet. It is usually short and musical.

Examples: Poems about love, nature, sorrow, happiness and patriotism.

Example: William Wordsworth's “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud” expresses the poet's feelings about the beauty of nature.

2. Narrative Poetry
Narrative poetry tells a story through verse. It may include characters, events, dialogue and a sequence of actions.

Examples: The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by S. T. Coleridge and The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer.

Example: The Rime of the Ancient Mariner tells the story of a sailor and his unusual experiences at sea.

3. Dramatic Poetry
Dramatic poetry presents situations, characters and conflicts in a dramatic manner. It often uses dialogue and may be written as a speech by a character.

Example: Robert Browning's “My Last Duchess” is a dramatic monologue in which a Duke speaks about his former wife.

4. Descriptive Poetry
Descriptive poetry focuses on describing people, places, objects, nature or scenes in an imaginative and detailed way.

Example: Wordsworth's poetry often describes the beauty of mountains, rivers, flowers and other natural objects.

5. Epic Poetry
An epic is a long narrative poem dealing with the adventures and achievements of a heroic or important figure. It often deals with war, bravery, religion and great events.

Examples: The Iliad and The Odyssey by Homer; Paradise Lost by John Milton.

6. Elegy
An elegy is a poem written to express sorrow, mourning or remembrance, especially after someone's death.

Example: Thomas Gray's “Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard” reflects on death and human life.

7. Ode
An ode is a serious and usually formal poem written in praise of or addressing a person, object, idea or event.

Example: John Keats's “Ode to a Nightingale” expresses deep thoughts and feelings inspired by the nightingale.

8. Sonnet
A sonnet is a poem consisting of 14 lines, usually dealing with love, beauty, nature, time or philosophical ideas.

Example: William Shakespeare's Sonnet 18, beginning with “Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?”, praises the beauty of the beloved.

● Conclusion :
Thus, the classification of poetry helps us understand the different ways in which poets express their ideas and emotions. Lyric poetry expresses feelings, narrative poetry tells stories, dramatic poetry presents characters and situations, and descriptive poetry creates pictures through words. Other important forms include epic, elegy, ode and sonnet. Each type has its own purpose, structure and characteristics, making poetry a rich and diverse form of literature.
